Dishes, the Proper Use of

Sometimes Margaret’s attitude towards the usual conventions of civilized behavior at the table leaves something to be desired.

When her breakfast was given to her this morning, it had four small squares of toast on the plate, which also held a bowl of blueberries, and her milk was put on the upper left.  It was a marvel of artistic presentation, for a piece of toast and a bunch of blueberries.

But, as the picture shows, she quickly altered that arrangement.

She is “counting” the blueberries, but her understanding of numbers is pretty much 1, 2, sometimes 3, and then other numbers just mean “more.”  And in order to count blueberries, it is apparently necessary to put them on the mat – not the table, not the plate, certainly not the bowl  they came in, because that would be just silly.

Besides, the milk apparently needs a hat.

But sometimes, she does eat the food.

And sometimes she just looks slightly pugnacious and slightly defensive.  While still eating.
