Career Day

We have taken to going to the Magic House on the weekends, because it is a wonderland of exciting things to see and do for children of all ages.

One of the places that I had previously not seen was display that had a room for each branch of the government.  There was the legislative branch, where Margaret stood on the stage and declaimed, and then climbed into a sculpture intended to show how the three branches maintained a delicate balance, and instead showed how the three branches of the government went all cockeyed when a toddler sat on them.

Make of that what you will.

The courtroom was also nice.  There were judge's robes in a variety of sizes, and Margaret donned the smallest one, and Leo taught her to say "objection overruled."  She didn't want to do it for the camera, but I told her that Uncle Brent would be very proud, and so she did it.

I realize, though, that now if she ever becomes a judge or runs for public office or anything like that, this video will surface, but I can't help but think that it will help her, because who wouldn't want a public official who was so adorable?

Ellie got pretty excited about a wall of pegs that are really a giant Lite Brite setup.  This is great because she would like Lite Brite right up until the moment that she ate all the pegs.  And then she still might like it, but I would be upset.

This, however, solves that problem.

She does a lot of things these days with her tongue out.  I feel this habit does not comport well with her acquisition of teeth, but I suppose that she will learn that lesson herself one of these days.

Also, I have just looked and the title of this post is "Career Day."  I decided to add the Ellie stuff after I wrote the title and the first half of the post, and I don't want anyone to think that I am suggesting that Ellie should do some sort of light rod sticking in for a career.  I don't even know what that would be.  It was just with the judge thing.  And I don't want to put the effort in to think of another title, even thought that means that I am going to type another paragraph about it.  It makes sense somehow.
