Cinderellie

(Oh, man am I proud of that title.  It makes me feel that it was a good decision to call Ellie Ellie.  Because we could have called her so many other things, including Katie and Libby &c.  But we didn't, and now I get this marvelous pun.  Isn't it a good day?)

Moving on.

Yesterday, while Margaret languished in the grip of education,* Ellie and I seized the opportunity to tidy Margaret's room.  It needed a good bit of it, since she occupied herself in a quiet time past in tearing into teeny-tiny pieces the two papery books that had inadvertently gotten left in her room.  Do you know how much paper it takes to make a book, and how much time it takes to pick up the paper from two books that has been methodically shredded into pieces no bigger than a quarter?  A couple of hours, that's how long.

Of course, it might have been that my efforts were somewhat impeded by the young lady who was helping me, who decided that the broom was the best thing ever,  and she wouldn't let me have it, which meant that I did most of that paper removal by hand.

And then she got the dustpan and brush.

But we got it clean, and I'm sure that Margaret appreciated it greatly.

*She doesn't actually languish.  She loves it.  And yesterday she got to make bread, which was completely amazing for her.  She talked about it all afternoon, and when I listened to her in quiet time, she was making bread in her room.
