I’m not sure that Margaret has tumbled to the fact that Ellie will be a rival for toys and books (I’m sure I’m going to find myself telling her that little sisters can’t read the words off the page, and I’m going to have to deal with the fact that I sound like my mother*).
But she realizes that the cat is up to no good, and she’s nipping that in the bud.
He was clearly going after it, and she’s not standing for that, no sir.
*Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
