Margaret has a love affair with banana bread.
Every time we go on the weekends and get Leo coffee, she thinks that we should get Margaret banana bread, and we frequently do, even if she has already had her first breakfast. Because we’re nice like that, and the way she says “Banana bread for Margaret, okay?” is ridiculously cute.*
But this morning, she discovered another thing that banana bread could do besides being stuffed in her mouth as quickly as possible: it can stand up BY ITSELF.**
This is a very startling development, and wants further consideration.
At this point, she reached for something on the placemat, and told me that it was parsley, because she felt a little sick. It took me a moment to realize that the picture of Peter Rabbit on her placemat is the one from the page where he’s eating things that make him a little sick and send him in search of parsley as a remedy. Margaret, however, had found a walnut. Her brain is an interestingly twisty place these days.
*Don’t tell her that this whole cute thing works on us, okay?
**By itself is a big thing for Margaret right now. In fact, Leo noticed that as she talks to herself in her room before she goes to bed, what she is saying as we speak is “Margaret do it by herself. Good job.” So that’s awesome.
