What’s Cooking?

One of the difficulties of life in my house is that my kitchen is smallish, and Margaret is not very easy to control.  This means that cooking when there isn’t someone to herd her is a bit tricky.  At the same time, she hates to be shut out, so if I’m in the kitchen, that’s where she wants to be.

Tonight, Leo had to work late, so I came up with a solution.  She “helped.”

I told her the recipe called for a cup of well-beaten air (and pointed authoritatively to a line in a recipe book that I wasn’t using because I was making potstickers for dinner, and a recipe is unnecessary), and she nodded, took the measuring cup I held out, dumped the carefully measured air into the bowl, and beat the bejeezus out of it.

Good job.
